The Cure for Confusion
July 14, 2010By Ed Wrather

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. - 1 Corinthians 14:33 NKJV.

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 2:1-5 NKJV.

We have what some might call a nondescript vehicle. It is white, and there are countless other cars on the road that look exactly like it. So, on our recent trip as the three of us left a store with me leading the way back to the car, I was puzzled when I was the only one at our car. Then, I noticed Jeanie and Nick a few cars away trying to open the door of another white car, and it was not even the same make or model!

I am just glad that they did not find a concrete block lying around to smash open a window. You see, that is what 24-year-old Chase Fitzgerald did when he was confronted with a similar situation. His key would not open the door of the Jeep Cherokee that he thought was his, so he just picked up a concrete block, and smashed open a window. That was when he came to the conclusion that the vehicle was not his.

Chase has been charged with criminal mischief, and he will probably have to pay for the $2,555 worth of damages that he caused too. But where did he find a concrete block lying around in a bank parking lot?? Some people become confused as to which car is theirs, so if you see someone trying to open the door of your white car, it may just be the Wrather family. However, if it is a person with a concrete block lifted above their head preparing to smash out a window you might want to call for help.

There is no doubt that life can at times be confusing, and spiritually things can appear to be confusing; but it is not God's will that you stay confused. It is God's will that we have peace in every area of our lives.

Often the solution to confusion is simply a brief prayer asking for the Lord's help and guidance. It is amazing how quickly everything can change after just a little prayer. The apostle Paul says in Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” Prayer is a way of doing exactly that.

The apostle Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Instead of being fearful and confused about every situation that arises; we should be rejoicing in our Lord, continually giving thanks to Him, and praying constantly about everything because this is “the will of God….”

Is there confusion in your life? The cure for that confusion is as the old song puts it:

Have a little talk with Jesus tell him all about our troubles
Feel a little prayer wheel turning know a little fire is burning
Find a little talk with Jesus makes it right.

Maybe you need to have a little talk with Jesus right now?

My daily walk with Jesus
Posted By SEWBIRD on July 14, 2010
I am so happy to have found your website through FB. I try to have Jesus in my first thoughts every morning. When time has past without me aknowledging His presence it's like He taps me on the shoulder to remind me! I am surprised that He has been with me even though I was totally ignoring Him! I apologize and thank Him for sticking by me and then I begin to Praise Him and Thank Him. I get in His Word and He becomes more real, more alive, closer. I better understand His presence in my life and I better hear His voice. I pray that I continue along this journey with Him and that I will always depend on Him to lead me on this walk. Praise God!
